Our approach

  • Participative methods are always used to identify risk and develop effective resilience strengthening solutions. This is a critical part of developing inclusive strategies that integrate local knowledge to avoid maladaption and build resilience. We seek to ensure these methods are developed in proposals and monitored during project implementation and evaluation.

  • We seek to prioritise green/blue nature-based solutions where possible to ensure technical solutions move towards a ‘systems thinking’ based approach, that simultaneously promotes climate mitigation and adaptation, whilst delivering a range of co-benefits.

  • We have made a pledge to ensure 7.5% of revenue derived from Adapt40's work is either dedicated to pro-bono Disaster Risk Reduction / Climate Change Adaptation technical assistance  or donated to climate justice charities. Adapt40 is always open to suggestions from organisations that require pro-bono technical assistance. We are currently working with YMCA Madagascar, delivering technical advisory and capacity building services to support their community-based disaster risk reduction ambitions.
