Mainstreaming Climate Change into CRS Agricultural Program
Catholic Relief Services: 2023 - 2024
Adapt40 worked with Catholic Relief Services (CRS), an international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the USA. Adapt40’s work was threefold, creating a digital climate risk assessment tool, developing training materials and devising strategic pointers to direct CRS’ approach to mitigating and adapting to climate change across the organisation.
The team developed a climate risk assessment tool to be rolled out across CRS’ agriculture programmes in Sub-saharan Africa, Asia and Latin America. Building on the tool, the team created training materials on tools and approaches to climate change adaptation and delivered training to CRS staff. Finally, Adapt40 provided recommendations on the content and direction of CRS programming to mainstream climate adaptation and mitigation, making recommendations on strategy and approach, funding and staffing structure.
Olaf Westermann - Senior Technical Advisor for Climate Change, Catholic Relief Service (CRS) - "It has been a pleasure working with ADAPT40, a young and dynamic team with a solid experience and in-depth knowledge of the impacts of climate change on smallholder farmers, along with effective coping and adaptation strategies. Their commitment to quality work, adherence to deadlines, and openness to revisions and suggestions for change stand out. Based on this first experience working with them we are very likely to engage their services again in the future and confidently endorse them for projects requiring innovative and reliable climate resilience solution"
